San Sebastián presents ‘Inés del alma mía’, as part of the productions participated by RTVE

Cesc Gay’s new film (‘Sentimental’) and Nacho Álvarez’s debut (‘Explode exploits’) will have their world premiere in San Sebastián.

Radio Televisión Española (RTVE), official sponsor of the San Sebastián Festival, will present in the 68th edition the feature films Sentimental, by Cesc Gay, and Explota exploita, by Nacho Álvarez, as well as the series Inés del alma mía, based on the novel of the same name by Isabel Allende.

The first of the three titles participated by TVE will be screened as a world premiere at the RTVE Gala that will host the Victoria Eugenia Theater. Cesc Gay (Barcelona, 1967) returns to the Festival after participating with feature films such as Hotel Room (New Directors, 1998), En la ciudad (Official Selection, 2003) or Truman (Official Selection, Silver Shell for best actor ex aequo for Ricardo Darín and Javier Cámara 2015). The Sentimental comedy, starring Javier Cámara, Belén Cuesta, Griselda Siciliani and Alberto San Juan, is the adaptation of Gay’s play, Los Neighbors de Arriba, in which the meeting of two pairs of neighbors leads to an emotional tsunami.

For his part, the Uruguayan Nacho Álvarez (Montevideo, 1986) makes his debut in the feature film with Exploits Exploits, a film that includes in its soundtrack the greatest hits of the Italian Raffaella Carrà and which will also be screened as a world premiere. The actress Ingrid García-Jonsson plays a young dancer and singer who tries to make her dreams come true in the gray Spain of the early 70s. Verónica Echegui, Fernando Guallar, Fernando Tejero, Pedro Casablanc, Carlos Hipólito and Natalia Millán complete the distribution.

Finally, RTVE will present the first chapters of the series Inés del alma mía in San Sebastián. Directed by Cuban Alejandro Bazzano (Havana, 1963) and Chilean Nicolás Acuña (Santiago, 1972), it is a historical drama set in the 16th century and based on the homonymous novel by Isabel Allende. Elena Rivera plays Inés Suárez, a young woman from Extremadura who during colonial times crossed the Atlantic in search of her husband (Benjamín Vicuña) and who lived a passionate romance with the Spanish conqueror Pedro de Valdivia (Eduardo Noriega).
